Echoes of Disneyland

By Keith Mahne

If you're a fan of Disney Avenue, you probably realize how much we love Disney music around here. Let me tell you about a classic Disneyland album you're going to love. It's called Echoes of Disneyland and it was created by a man named Dee Fisher, a true staple at Disneyland during its first fifteen years in operation. Dee was the manager of Disneyland's Wurlitzer music store at the corner of Town Square and Main Street USA. On many a quiet evening he would fill the air with the haunting yet subdued tones of his electric organ in a twightlight concert of familiar Disney tunes. After many guest requests, he recorded this album, live at the Park, for Disneyland records in 1957. Listen to the beautiful and soothing sounds of this magical 1957 album in today's new article...

Imagine for a moment that the year is 1957, it's a California winter evening and the lights are just beginning to flicker on at Disneyland...

The noonday crowds are gone, and the few visitors remaining stroll slowly toward the gates...

It's then that the little old Main Street, springing so recently from an orange grove, takes on a patina of quiet dignity and age that makes it really become the heartline of America.

One of the most prominent locations on Main Street is that of the Wurlitzer music shop. The general manager was Mr. Dee Fisher, and oftentimes as evening fell, he would sit down at the Wurlitzer electronic organ and softly play some of the songs that fit Disneyland, and the quiet evening.

The music would flow out the doors and windows and echo through the nearly deserted Town Square...

This article is an effort to recapture just such a twilight, peaceful night at Walt Disney's little piece of heaven on earth. Close your eyes, sit back, relax and enjoy friends...this is Echoes of Disneyland...

If you enjoy hearing the vintage, peaceful sounds of Disneyland's Main Street at night, there is a way for you to listen whenever the mood strikes. Simply scroll through the new Disney Avenue Music Player located under the banner to track number 193. This magical album will transport you to a Disneyland starry night whenever you're in the mood to revisit the Park of yesteryear.
