Although Walt Disney's version of Epcot never saw the light of day, the original EPCOT Center was something truly special. The EPCOT Center of 1983 and the Epcot we know today are two completely different worlds. Many of us have our own opinions on what the Park has become, but I think we all agree that it's important, and enjoyable, to look back at what it once was. Today, let's travel back and revisit the Park as it was in 1983 when "Center" was still part of its vernacular and CommuniCore was still the heart and soul of this unique place inside Walt Disney World...
The Epcot of today is still an amazing place to visit, please don't get me wrong. However, let's keep it real, festivals like Food and Wine, or Flower and Garden, seem to be what really lures guests toward the beautiful Spaceship Earth jutting out of the Florida wilderness. Originally, it was the attractions that did the job. Attractions such as World of Motion, the original Journey Into Imagination, the Wonders of Life pavilion, the beloved and sorely missed Horizons, and countless others.
Although we cannot yet physically revisit EPCOT Center as it was in 1983 (that would probably be one of my 3 wishes if I suddenly found a magic lamp), we can take a look at this nostalgic, 1983 16mm film used to promote the then new EPCOT Center. If you're all set and ready to reminisce on the Epcot that once was then watch this fantastic video below. Enjoy friends...
