Fashion at Disneyland - Dapper Days

By Daisy Sparks

Most people make careful plans on what they wear to Disneyland. That could mean wearing your Mickey Mouse ears, your favorite Disney t-shirt, or most comfortable shoes. There is one trend that has been taking Disneyland by storm over the last couple of years called Dapper Day. Let's check out the fashion at Disneyland and explore Dapper Day at the Park in today's new article...

Looking ‘dapper’ means looking neat and stylish. When you visit Disneyland these days, it's not uncommon to see well-dressed people complete with fashionable hats and fancy shoes. What’s great about seeing ‘dapper’ people in the Park is that it gives you an idea of how people would have come dressed to Disneyland during its early years. It is very nostalgic and very fashionable.

There is actually a very well organized event that happens twice a year at Disneyland called “Dapper Days”. It's an unofficial Disney event. It's also so fun to walk down Main Street U.S.A and see some very well dressed folks. It really gives you a feel of what the crowd must have looked like when Disneyland first opened in 1955.

Some people take it to another level and go all ‘dapper’ with a Disney twist. Check out these groups who were thoughtful and really brought their style statement to Dapper Day. Can you guess the characters they are channeling?

There was a free Dapper Day Expo that was located at the Disneyland Hotel recently. I got a chance to walk around and see some fun stylish offerings. It's a good venue to see what Dapper Days is all about. You can also purchase items to help you create your dapper wardrobe.

It really is fun to be at Disneyland during an organized Dapper Day, although it's not an official Disney event. To see stylish people walking around the Park brings wonderful feelings of nostalgia and offers one a peek into the past at what Disneyland's guests once looked like as they roamed Walt's park. It also gives a reason for people to talk to each other in line and make new friends. People compliment each other on their well crafted outfits and get ideas to grow their own stylish wardrobe. There is a lot of creative and originality on display.  The 2016 Dapper Days have already been announced for Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris.

If you ever get a chance to go during a Dapper Day event, get dressed up, too, and join in on the fun. It's just one more special way to experience that Disney pixie dust.

Daisy Sparks grew up in Southern California and Disneyland was a regular part of her life. While in college, she started working at Disneyland as a Main Street Merchandise Host. Her "college job" led to 12 adventurous years working with Mickey Mouse. She was a trained Magic Demonstrator, Hat Writer and was even signed off as a Disneyland Monorail Ride Operator. Daisy loved every minute of it while she held various management positions in Merchandise, Business Operations and Attractions.

Daisy is married to her college sweetheart, David (a former Jungle Cruise Skipper). David solicited Daisy's Duck's help in memorable engagement proposal that took place at Disneyland's Club 33. Daisy left Disneyland in May 2001 to raise her two daughters. She continues to visit the Disneyland Resort multiple times a week as a Guest. Daisy particularly loves the Disneyland heritage because of all of the little details and stories that make it "the happiest place on earth."
