Bring the Smell of the Disney Resorts to Your Home

By Keith Mahne

Smells can transport us back to powerful and emotional memories from the past more effectively than any of the 5 senses. Any die-hard Disney fan knows that Disney "smells" play a huge role in our nostalgic love of the Parks. The smell of Pirates of the Caribbean, burning embers in Spaceship Earth, the smell as you walk past the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street, USA, and one of my favorites, the smell of a Walt Disney World Resort lobby. You know the one I'm talking about! It's one of the first things that greet you as you enter your favorite resort (except if you are staying at the Grand Floridian in which case Richard would be the first thing) and your brain's endorphin's go into overdrive because you realize your in the vacation kingdom of the world. Well, what if I told you that you could bring this scent into your own home. Yep, that's right! Let me fill you in on how you can bring the magical smell of a Disney resort to your humble abode...

Disney's Contemporary Resort lobby

If the beauty and detail of a Disney resort isn’t enough, the resorts have a unique and distinct scent that, from the moment you walk in the door, hits your nose and you become instantly happier, as if a puff of pixie dust just smacked you upside the head...which usually happens when I enter the Magic Kingdom. Certain smells can be extremely powerful mood enhancers and the clever folks at Disney know exactly which ones will have you feeling like you are “home.” Though I adore all of the Disney resort lobby scents, the ones that have had the most profound impact on me—triggering serious feelings of nostalgia and joy—are The Grand Floridian, The Contemporary and, of course, The Polynesian. (You can find the Polynesian Resort fragrance by clicking here)

Disney's Grand Floridian lobby

The name of the scent that fills the lobbies, specifically in the Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower, just to name a few, is called “Green Clover and Aloe” and the good folks at The Columbia Fragrance Co. have recreated it to perfection!

I can tell you with 100% certainty (as my own candle is burning right beside me as I write this) that they got it right and boy are my endorphin's kicking! If I close my eyes, I could swear I was inside one of those beautiful lobbies now.

The Columbia Fragrance Co. calls this fragrance "Walt's Wonderful World" and it comes in a variety of ways. A 12oz or 8oz candle, oil, body spray, room spray (which I love), tea lights and breakaway melts. Here is their description:

Named for the magical clean scent of a Disney resort, Walt's Wonderful World is the fresh, unisex scent of Green Clover and Aloe.
One of our best selling fragrances for 2013, 2014, 2015, and trending to the top for 2016, our customers flock to this scent to remind them of the magic of their family vacation.
Here's what satisfied customers say about this fragrance:
"They smell exactly like a Disney Resort!!!"
"From a former cast member at the Grand, this candle is as close as you can get to the Grand without actually being there. THIS CANDLE SMELLS SO GOOD"
"This truly is the scent to buy when you want to be transported back to the happiest place on earth. It is beyond wonderful!! It is so long lasting. I just love it. I am hoping they have a case discount, because I will be buying this a lot."
"Just bought the Walt's Wonderful World wax melts and absolutely love them! The smell is amazing and brings me back to my favorite place. Definitely will be buying more of these!!!!!"

...I couldn't agree more! So, if you'd like to bring the smell of a Disney resort to your own home, click the button below and be prepared to get transported to your favorite Disney home away from home...
