The Disney parks aren’t the only place you can find heroes from the stories we all know and love. Especially if you’re looking for superheroes. With Marvel’s newest movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron” set to hit theaters May 1, movie theaters across the country are getting ready for the franchise’s biggest event yet, the Marvel Ultimate Movie Marathon. Learn more about this "super" event after the page break...
When the first “Avengers” film hit theaters in 2012, select movie theater chains ran a 6-movie marathon showcasing the previous five Marvel movies and finishing it off with the new release. Now with the second “Avengers” film approaching, theaters are preparing to run another marathon, this time playing all 11 Marvel movies in an approximately 27-hour time period.
The Marvel Ultimate Movie Marathon will take place on April 29 at select AMC and Regal theaters across the country, including the AMC Downtown Disney 12 in Anaheim, Cali. and the AMC Downtown Disney 24 in Orlando, Fla.
AMC has already released its movie schedule for the event as follows starting April 29:
6:00pm- Iron Man
8:25pm- The Incredible Hulk
10:35pm- Iron Man 2
3:10am- Captain America: The First Avenger
5:30am- The Avengers
8:48am- Iron Man 3
11:15am- Thor: The Dark World
1:45pm- Captain America: The Winter Soldier
4:20pm- Guardians of the Galaxy
7:00pm- Avengers: Age of Ultron
Currently, only select theaters will be hosting the ultimate marathon, but more details will be announced as the date approaches. Visit AMC’s and Regal’s websites for details.
At $70 per ticket, the event averages to less than $6.50 per movie. Included in the purchase of each Marvel Ultimate Movie Marathon ticket is a collectable Avengers medallion that will be distributed at the end of the final movie. AMC is also offering a collector’s pin to ticket holders and those who are members of their AMC Stubs rewards program will receive $10 in Bonus Bucks to spend at the concession stand during that event.
As with other movie marathons, there will be breaks in between for snacks and bathroom breaks.
For those looking to get their Marvel marathon fix, but may not have the time, or patience, to sit in a movie theater for over 27 hours, select theaters are also playing an Avengers Double Feature on April 30. The more manageable 2-movie event will play the first “Avengers” at 4pm, followed by the new “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
Of course, if you’re just looking to see the new film, tickets are already on sale for “Avengers: Age of Ultron” in its regular format, 3D, and IMAX 3D where available. While the official release date is May 1, some theaters like AMC offer shows starting the day before as early as 7pm. You can visit their website to find your local theater.
The Walt Disney Company purchased Marvel Entertainment in late 2009 and has played a big role in the films’ distribution, marketing, and merchandising. You can currently find Marvel products in your local Disney Store or online at DisneyStore.com. The franchise was also incorporated onto Disney Cruise Line ships and into the runDisney program in 2014.
With a third version of the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” trailer recently released, Disney fans and Marvel fans alike are anxiously awaiting their chance to assemble for this year’s film.

Despite the distance, she makes every effort to keep the magic of Disney alive and well from watching the movies to listening to their soundtracks on a pretty regular basis. For her 16th birthday, she decided to celebrate by making a special trip to Walt Disney World with her mother instead of having a Sweet 16 party. Best trip ever! She’s lost count of just how many times she’s been to Walt Disney World, but it’s become an annual or biennial trip at this point.
Deciding to incorporate her love of Disney into her professional life, she wrote for Examiner.com as the Long Island Walt Disney Examiner for the last four years sharing information about the parks, movies, merchandise, and special events as a freelance writer. In 2013, Kristina participated in her first ever runDisney event during the Princess Half Marathon and has since then become addicted. She just completed her second race during the 2015 Walt Disney World Half Marathon and looks forward to participating in many more.
