Disney Avenue Update

By Keith Mahne

We have a quick Disney Avenue update for you today! There are a couple of big things to share with you involving the upcoming Disney movie Tomorrowland and a big news announcement coming soon by Bob Iger. Join us after the page break for more...

Let's begin with a new Tomorrowland trailer that was recently released in Japan. I have to say, up until this trailer I had no clue what to expect from this movie. After seeing this, it is becoming my most anticipated movie to date! You'll see why in the video below:

Bob Iger was interviewed last night on the Mad Money TV show and said there would be a "big announcement" tomorrow at the shareholders meeting that would have shareholders, fans and even Disney cast members very excited and he can't wait to share the news. He also alluded to the fact that at some time in the future "wearable devices" would replace the magic band.

We expect the announcement to be know by this afternoon. Stay tuned to Disney Avenue for more...

**UPDATE 3/13/15** - After finding out what Bob Iger's "big announcements" were yesterday at Disney's shareholder meeting I feel the same way as Ralphie did in A Christmas Story....OVALTINE!!!!!

More Frozen, more Star Wars: Those were among the "big announcements" at the Walt Disney Company's annual shareholders' meeting Thursday in San Francisco. Disney CEO Bob Iger officially announced several upcoming releases during a conference call, including everything we already knew or expected:

Frozen 2 (in development)

Star Wars Episode VIII, opening May 26, 2017

Star Wars: Rouge One, the franchise's first spin-off film, starring Felicity Jones and opening in 2016

Avatar Land at Disney's Animal Kingdom is still set to open in 2017

Shanghai Disneyland will open in spring 2016

One pretty neat thing that happed at the annual shareholder meeting was when a young child in the audience asked Iger if the company would change the name of Disney's Hollywood Studios in WDW. Iger confirmed that Disney would, only to realize that he wasn’t supposed to let the cat — or perhaps mouse? -- out of the bag just yet. “Have we announced that?” Iger said to other executives on hand, according to a report in the Orlando Business Journal.

Tell us what you think about the trailer and the announcements in the comments below...
