Disney's Headless, Horseless Horseman

By Keith Mahne

One of the most popular portions of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the ride of the Headless Horseman. A couple of years ago, a video came out that shows why horse shoes and wet bricks just don't mix. The cell phone video captures the horse and rider falling while passing through Liberty Square on a slick street. Continue after the page break and let us examine this from a few angles...

Marvelous to Mediocre: Beautiful Theatre to Huge Hat

By Keith Mahne

There are times in life when a hat comes in handy... blocking the sun, keeping the sweat out of your eyes, a day at the horse races, even to cover a bad hair day. When a hat is used to literally block a beautiful theatre it becomes just downright unacceptable! Continue after the page break for what entering MGM Studios use to be like before a huge fiberglass hat fell from the sky and what we hope it will return to with the recent news that it will be relocated...

Dapper Day: Disney’s Ultimate Throwback

By Lindsey Allmon

On my last vacation to Disney World I wore the exact same thing every single day: Shorts, a Disney tank top, sneakers and sunglasses. The rest of my family wore a similar uniform, as did ninety nine percent of the rest of the population of Disney at the time. And why not? A summer in Florida is broiling hot and a day at Disney requires miles of walking. It only makes sense that you would be comfortable. However, when the designers of Disney initially imagined the attendees of the parks, shorts and tanks were simply not up to par with their expectations. Now one group is trying to bring style back to the Disney parks. Continue after the page break to learn more about the event that has everyone dressed to the nines: Dapper Day...

Main Street Windows: A Complete Guide to Disney's Whimsical Tributes

I'd like to share with you a fantastic new book by the amazing Jeff Heimbuch called Main Street Windows: A Complete Guide to Disney's Whimsical Tributes. As you walk down Main Street, U.S.A., have you ever looked up and wondered what the names on the windows mean? Although the tradition of honoring people with a window has been around since Disneyland's opening day, there has never been a comprehensive list of them all....

Until now.

In this book, you'll find a complete guide to all of the whimsical tributes at every Magic Kingdom park throughout the world, complete with full color photos! Grab yourself a copy of Jeff's amazing new book from the link below:

Making of: The Jungle Cruise

By Keith Mahne

In a Disneyland full of Splash Mountains, Space Mountains and Big Thunder Mountains, sometimes the older, so called "classic" attractions go overlooked. One such attraction is the Jungle Cruise. By far the most campy yet humorous attraction in the parks, depending on your guide that is, the Jungle Cruise has gone through a number of enhancements and refurbishments over its history and yet still remains one of the most beloved experiences of the parks. Today, Disney Avenue has another fantastic and picture-packed Making of article all about the incredible Jungle Cruise. An Ode to Maelstrom

By Ryan Reed

The loss of the Maelstrom has affected every Disney fan, young or old. With the news of Frozen coming in and replacing a classic, and somewhat underrated attraction, the announcement has been met with an overwhelming amount of opposition. I could go on and on with the politics, opinions, and traditions people have raised when arguing against this decision but I want to avoid that. So much negativity has come from this, and I understand why. Disney fans are passionate about this wonderful place; the negativity is spawning from this passion. The opposition isn’t all negative, the fact that so many people care tells me it’s coming from positive intentions. Today, though, I simply want to go back and take a look at Maelstrom and why it was on my “Must Do” (multiple times) list every time I made my trip to Disney World. Continue after the page break for more...
